1. ​When does the program recruit new entrants?

The general admission schedule will be as follows.
For a detailed schedule, refer to the notice of admissions on the website(http://biz.korea.ac.kr/APP) at the beginning of March.

Online Application : Students can apply for Finance MBA all the times of the year.

  • March (beginning) : Information Session
  • April (beginning) : 2nd Information Session
  • by April : Deadline of Online Application (Applicants who apply for Finance MBA by the application due date will be classified as the admission subjects of the year.)
  • by April : Document Submission Deadline
  • May (mid) : Notice of Acceptance for Document Examining
  • around end of May : Interview for Candidates
  • end of May or early June : Announcement of Acceptance for Successful Candidates
2. I have no career background. Am I eligible to apply?
Students who graduate from university can apply for Finance MBA without work experience.
※Career can be reflected in extra admission points.
3. Can I attend the program while working?
Finance MBA is a day program with classes on weekdays from 9:00-18:00 (changeable).Therefore, it is not possible for Finance MBA students to attend the program while still working.
4. ​Is the military service period recognized as a career?
In case of the military officer in the army or special case on military service, it is generally accepted as career.
5. What kind of English proficiency test score is accepted?
The submission of English proficiency test score is not essential, and there is no criterion or limit for the score. All certified English tests (TOEIC, TOEFL, GMAT, TEPS and etc) are recognized, but we generally assess the demonstration of actual English proficiency in the application interview. After entrance, Korea University Finance MBA course offers students English classes according to their level. Therefore, students who perform highly in other areas can improve their English proficiency during the program.
6. ​Is there any disadvantage if an English test score is not submitted?
Even if a student does not submit English proficiency test score, there is no disadvantage. However, we assess a student's proficiency in English through English interview.
7. Is there any advantage in submitting language proficiency test certificates for languages other than English?
No extra points are gained in terms of selection criteria, but they can be used as a reference.
8. Will extra points be added for those with certificates such as CFA/FRM?
There will not be special extra points for those who have main Finance/Accounting certificates such as CFA, KICPA, AICPA, FRM and etc, but a chance of passing the exam (Entrance examination of Finance MBA course) will be very high.
9. When does the semester begin?
It begins in September and lasts for one year (6 modules x 2 months).
10. How many students are admitted each year?
In case of Finance MBA, it usually ranges between 25 and 30.
11. ​What is the proportion of English-mediated classes in the course?
More than 60 percent of classes are taught in English.
12. ​What is the degree title?
English: Master of Business Administration (Finance MBA)
: 경영학 석사 (Finance MBA)
13. ​What kinds of scholarships are in place?
We offer a prescribed amount of honor scholarships for high GPA once a year. In addition, the partnership with CFA offers a full examination fee or supports a little for those who take the CFA exam through selection.
14. I want to get a student loan. What do I have to do?
Finance MBA students can apply for a student loan on the website (www.studentloan.go.kr) run by Ministry of Eduacation and Science Technology(MEST).
15. What is IRP(International Residence Program)?
To cultivate international financial experts who will lead the future finance in Korea, "International Residence Program" at Korea University Business School offers the opportunity of having business experiences that can be hard for students to acquire through regular curriculums. This program helps students to visit overseas prestigious universities and global finance companies for 4 weeks to receive the education about advanced finance techniques. Finance MBA students not only have studied at Wharton School in the United States and National University of Singapore (NUS) in Singapore, but have also visited leading financial institutions in New York and Hong Kong.
16. ​Is there a student exchange program?
Yes, Finance MBA students can apply for an exchange student program. After completing the one-year course, students can study for one semester at one of the 50 MBA schools who have an agreement with KUBS. When taking the exchange student program, additional tuition (About \350,000 in 2016) should be paid. (The list of exchange universities and student quotas are updated annually.)
17. What are graduation requirements?
To graduate, students should complete at least 45 credits and achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
In case of MBA, students do not submit a thesis.
18. Are the graduates of the course qualified to pursue a doctoral degree?
Yes. The Finance MBA confers a MBA degree, which qualifies students to continue their study in a doctoral program.
19. What kind of career paths do students follow and how many students find employment after graduation?
KUBS operates KUBS Life Center that generally manages student life. For detailed information, please refer to the current state of employment on the relevant website. Finance MBA graduates (up to 7th graduates) have been working in securities companies, banks, property management companies, rating agencies and etc.
20. Is there any disadvantage when those who have worked in non-financial sector apply for the Finance MBA?
The Finance MBA aims to cultivate CEOs in the financial sector, so the important operation goal of this course is to enter the financial sector after students complete the Finance MBA course. Accordingly, when selecting students for admission, we assess a student's potential to get a job in the financial sector after graduation. Those who worked in non-financial sector have successfully changed their jobs to the financial sector so far, but this would be possible because of their own special strength. Therefore, those who worked in non-financial sector should consider how to make the best use of their own career in the financial sector in advance.
